Air Handling Unit

Air Handling Unit (AHU) is a key component of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems used in commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings to circulate and condition air. AHUs are typically large metal boxes containing a variety of components designed to regulate the temperature, humidity, cleanliness, and distribution of air within a building.

Heating and Cooling Coils : AHUs typically include heating and cooling coils that regulate the temperature of the air passing through the unit. Heating coils use hot water, steam, or electric resistance heating to warm the air, while cooling coils use chilled water or refrigerant to cool the air.

Humidifiers and Dehumidifiers : In environments where humidity control is necessary, AHUs may be equipped with humidifiers to add moisture to the air or dehumidifiers to remove excess moisture. These components help maintain comfortable and healthy indoor humidity levels.

Mixing Chambers and Dampers : Mixing chambers or dampers within the AHU allow for the mixing of outside air with return air from the building. This helps control ventilation rates and ensures a balanced supply of fresh air while optimizing energy efficiency.
